Music above all
ALEXANDER VAULIN
Concert Pianist and Piano Professor
Alexander Vaulin, the Russian pianist resident in Denmark, has gained a reputation as a remarkable musician and piano virtuoso through his performances and recordings of rarely and never-performed masterworks, particularly of Russian, Scandinavian and French piano music. In fact, he is the only pianist in Scandinavia who regularly performs sonatas by P. Dukas, N.W. Gade, W. Stenhammar, M. Balakirev, A. Glazunov, S. Slonimsky, B. Tishchenko, the Fantasia by L. Glass, and pieces by I. Bergh, A. Borodin, S. Palmgren, T. Rangström, and V. Silvestrov. Denmark’s National Radio’s review wrote: “If it were possible to award the Order of Elephant to someone who shakes the dust off the hidden music worth listening to from 1900’s, Alexander Vaulin should immediately get the Order... [He] performs the greatest deed for Louis Glass’ shamelessly neglected Fantasia from 1904”.
